This past week, our family enjoyed a much-needed vacation on the beautiful Isle of Palms, SC. Here are the highlights of our time together:
Family Time at the Beach House
We rented a lovely beach house with our extended family. It was a full house with our sons—Kenny and his fiancée Vanna, Joe, and Tom—Beth’s parents, and Beth’s sister Paige. Having everyone together under one roof made for a week filled with laughter, memories, and good times.
Touring the USS Yorktown
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Patriots Point and touring the historic USS Yorktown. I couldn’t resist taking a photo at the podium, pretending to deliver a keynote.
Evening of Laughter at the Black Fedora Theater
On Tuesday, we headed to Charleston for a night of entertainment at the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theater. We attended the show “Murder at the Redneck Family Reunion,” which was a riot. The show involved audience participation, and some of us even took on roles, hamming it up and enjoying every moment of the light-hearted chaos.
Walks on the Beach
Beth, Tom, Kenny, Joe, and I took several peaceful walks along the beach. I love walking on the sand, checking out shells (and Starfish), and listening to the ocean. When it’s family beach time it’s even better!
Recreating a Special Photo
While we were on the beach, Tom recreated the photo that graces the cover of my book, “Great Things Happen Every Day.” It was a special moment to capture this memory once again.
Exploring Downtown Charleston
We spent one morning exploring downtown Charleston. We enjoyed shopping at the straw market, strolling through Waterfront Park, and, of course, taking in the sight of the famous pineapple fountain. Beth and I snapped a picture in front of it to remember the day.
Conclusion
This week was filled with unforgettable moments and quality family time. We had lots of fun and feel well-rested as we gear up for the sprint to the end of summer. Here’s to cherishing these memories and looking forward to what’s next!
