Every Friday morning, I try to join the BA Cafe call with Business Analysts from around the globe. It’s a place where we discuss ideas and challenges—from work to random topics.
Mostly random topics.
This morning, the conversation turned to holidays and religions, exploring how different traditions bring people together and inspire unique practices. Someone mentioned that anything could become a religion or church, and before I could stop myself, I blurted out: “Hey, I could start a Fry Your Chickens church!”
From there, the idea took on a life of its own. With the help of ChatGPT and my son Tom, the First Holy Order of the Fryer and Feather was born. Below, you’ll find the full charter, rules, and symbols of this humorous yet oddly meaningful creation, showcasing how humor can make even serious concepts more approachable.
The Charter
“We, the congregation of the First Holy Order of the Fryer and Feather, gather in fellowship to celebrate the art of frying chickens, both literal and metaphorical, as a means of overcoming life’s doubts, fears, and negativity. With humor as our sacred sauce and resilience as our breading, we shall uplift spirits, lighten burdens, and live life golden-crisp and stress-free.”
Rules of Worship
- The Sacred Fry-Day: Worshipers gather every Friday (Fry-Day) to share funny stories of the chickens they’ve metaphorically fried that week. Bonus points if the story involves actual fried chicken.
- The Chicken Dance Ritual: At every service, a sacred Chicken Dance is performed to rid the soul of lingering negativity. Congregants must flap with vigor and embrace the ridiculousness.
- Offerings of Humor: Instead of tithes, members contribute jokes or rubber chickens for communal upliftment.
- The Holy Cluck Code:
- Thou shalt not take thyself too seriously.
- Thou shalt fry negativity with the golden oil of laughter.
- Thou shalt share the good word (and fried snacks) with others.
- Rubber Chicken Baptism: New members are anointed with a ceremonial squeak of the Sacred Rubber Chicken and declare: “I’m rubber, you’re glue—what you say bounces off me and sticks to you!” This sacred chant symbolizes their pledge to deflect negativity and embrace positivity.
Symbols of the Faith
- The Fryer’s Flame: Represents the spark of resilience within.
- The Holy Hen Grenade of Antioch: A sacred emblem of humor, symbolizing the explosive power of laughter to obliterate stress and negativity.
- The Whole Hog of Dedication: A squeaky piggy symbol of total commitment, reminding us that while the chicken contributes to breakfast, the hog is fully invested.
- The Bucket of Bliss: A literal bucket of fried chicken shared in fellowship.
Humor Takes the Stage
Humor isn’t just for laughs—it’s a powerful tool for frying those stress chickens. From the inception of the Fry Your Chickens church to its quirky symbols and rituals, laughter takes center stage. That’s why this issue skips the Dad Joke Double Dose—humor is the star of the story.
Coming Soon: The Book
While this concept leans into humor, it’s also a good reminder that ChatGPT isn’t just for silly ideas. It’s helping me shape my upcoming book, Fry Your Chickens! Seven Ways to Get Those Chickens Inside You to Shut the Cluck Up! The book is coming together, and I can’t wait to share it with you in 2025.
Takeaway
One of the best ways to fry chickens is with humor. That’s what we do on the BA Cafe call, what I did in this article, and what I strive to do in life. Humor doesn’t just lighten the mood—it lightens the load. Whether you’re dealing with stress, negativity, or self-doubt, laughter can be your secret sauce for a golden-crisp life.
So go ahead: fry those chickens, squeak that rubber chicken, and remember to laugh a little more this holiday season.
Looking Ahead
The next Fry Your Chickens post will focus on New Year’s goals (or resolutions, if you prefer). Humor can play a big role in setting and achieving those goals, so let’s start thinking about what makes you laugh and what keeps you motivated for 2025. What are your goals for 2025? Let’s start the year off by setting our sights on greatness.
