This week, I focused on how to achieve big wins with small actions in business. By dedicating one big thing each day to moving my business and speaking engagements forward, I was able to generate significant progress. Some tasks only took an hour, but each was designed for impactful results. Here’s how those small steps added up throughout the week:

Monday: Crafting a New Keynote

I started the week by outlining a new keynote titled “Lighten Up to Level Up”. The concept revolves around the effective use of humor in the workplace. Humor has been a crucial part of my success in both the corporate world and as a speaker. This keynote is all about teaching others how humor can help them level up their careers. It was exciting to put this concept on paper and further illustrates how to achieve big wins with small actions in business.

Tuesday: Applying the Keynote and Rubber Chickens

With the keynote idea in hand, I spent Tuesday applying it to multiple speaking engagements for 2024. Alongside this, I made progress on my sizzle reel, adding even more rubber chickens (because let’s be honest, you can never have enough rubber chickens in a sizzle reel!). This day was another step in demonstrating how to achieve big wins with small actions in business.

Wednesday: New Photos, New Slides

Beth took some new photos of me, and I used them to update the graphics for my Fry Your Chickens slides. The new visuals bring a fresh look to the presentation.

Thursday: Finding Humor in Surgery Recovery

Thursday morning started with a lighthearted email to a friend about my hernia surgery recovery. I joked, “Why is it when I go to the doctor, it’s never good news? Just once, I’d like to hear, ‘Oh yes, Mr. Barth, your body just installed a second brain, and it runs on ChatGPT.’” That joke sparked an idea, and by noon, I had developed it into a full Toastmasters speech titled “Why Doesn’t This Happen?” centered around the concept of a second brain powered by AI. The speech went over really well and reminded me of how humor can come from the most unexpected places.

Friday: Making Progress While Running Errands

Friday was a busy day filled with errands, but I still managed to move things forward. While waiting at the doctor’s office, I created a contact for a December event. It felt great to make tangible progress, even in between appointments, reinforcing that small actions lead to big wins.

The Takeaway:

This week was a reminder of how to achieve big wins with small actions in business. By focusing on one big thing every day, even small efforts can lead to significant progress over time. From keynotes and creative work to finding humor in unexpected places, every action contributed to the bigger picture. What’s your “one big thing” this week? I’d love to hear how you’re making progress—share in the comments below!
