There are plenty of ways to take a shelf off your bar wall, but here’s one method I absolutely don’t recommend: hit it with your head hard enough to knock the entire thing—and all the glasses on it—onto the floor.
While that might not make for a great day, what did come out of this unexpected mishap was a powerful reminder of gratitude. I walked away with no major injuries, thanks to quick care from my wife, Beth, and a few lucky breaks. Some glasses were shattered, but the things that truly matter—family, friends, and health—remained intact.
